Kelston View & North Way - Update

It is great to see that the Highways team have started to carry out the emergency repairs that we requested to ensure Kelston View and North Way is made safe to drive and ride along.

We are pushing for the full report to reconstruct the whole road, but are happy the larger potholes and damaged sections of both Kelston View and North Way are having  a temporary repair.
Damaged pavement on Kelston View

The damaged pavements along Kelston View have also been marked up to be repaired at the same time.  The splits in the pavements were left when the gas company did not fill in the holes correctly that they dug quite a while back and have got progressively worse.

Kelston View & North Way

Due to the severe conditions of the road surface of Kelston View and North Way and with the structure of both roads being in a very poor state.

Councillor Tim Ball has raised formal questions for the Conservative cabinet member for Highways and transport to answer.

Cabinet member for highways & Transport

Kelston View and North Way

Over the past few months the condition of these two roads has become so bad that I have visited the area with Highways officers on several occasions.

It seems that the whole substructure of both of these roads has become unstable and the concrete plates that form the road are cracking and in some cases have badly subsided and are visibly rocking. It seems that these two roads are in need of a complete restructure.

1) Will the cabinet member for Highways and Transport confirm that if officer reports identify that as I suspect a complete restructure of the road is needed make the sufficient funds available for this work to be done.

2) Will he also confirm that he will ensure that temporary repairs will take place with Immediate affect to return these roads to a reasonably safe condition.

3) Will he also acknowledge that as these roads are part of a Major Bus route that their condition should be kept in a condition that allows buses to operate with knowledge that the roads are safe for them to use and deliver the comfort that their passengers expect.

Twerton Residents Survey

Councillor Tim Ball and local campaigner Sarah Moore have been out talking to residents about what affects them in the area, and have been asking for our annual survey to be completed to help us provide more assistance where required.

We have decided that it may be easier for some residents to complete this on-line and as such, we have created an electronic version that can be accessed here.

We would like as much feedback from residents as possible to ensure your views are taken into consideration when various items that would affect you are discussed at council meetings.

Please can you take the time to either complete the on-line version or the paper version that will come through your door.

If you have any questions, please contact us.

Keeping in touch

The Twerton Focus team led by Councillor Tim Ball and Sarah Moore have been out again on Friday talking to local residents in the top end of Twerton.

We have been picking up many issues such as litter and dogs mess problems, through to the need to have several Roads resurfaced.

Residents that we have already spoken to will be contacted by letter in the next few days and will receive follow up letters and visits once we start to get the issues raised with us sorted out.

We will be visiting every door in Twerton over the coming months and hope to catch up with all residents.

In the mean time if you need our help then please get in touch.

Ps. An online  survey will soon be issued so watch out for it.

Shaws Way, Poolemead Road

It is good to see that the new keep clear markings have been installed on both Shaws Way and Poolemead Road that we asked for some months ago.

The Shaws Way markings allow the bus enough room to get around the corner from Poolemead road without the need to mount the kerb.

The new white lines further up on Poolemead Road are a relief for local residents with walking impairments and give easier access from the road to adjacent footpaths.

How Hill

Those of you travelling through Twerton today should be aware of road works currently taking place at How Hill the road between Twerton High Street & Newton Road.

There is a board controlled traffic management system in place that is causing short delays.

If you can avoid the area in the next few hours it would help but if you can be prepared for a short delay.
