Long Valley Road, Tanners Walk and Boyce Close

We have noticed that the litter bins that were provided by Knighstone Housing have for some reason been removed.

We have written to Knightstone and asked them to explain why.

It would be a shame if these bins were permanently removed as these have helped keep the area clean, with Bath and North East Somerset council refusing to install any new bins in the area apart from replacing worn out ones this could become a problem.

The latest report from BANES contains another planning application for our area.

The application is to convert a 3 bedroom property in Linley Close to a 5 bedroom House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).

Long Valley Road

We have asked Knightstone Housing and the Police to remove the abandoned Alpha Romero from a cul de sac on Long Valley Road.

At this point we are not aware if this was a stolen vehicle or one that has just been abandoned by its owner.

We are also dealing with several other issues that have been raised by residents and hope to provide an update on these shortly.

Newton Road ( white lines )

We have asked the council to paint white lines on the pedestrian crossing points at Newton Road to prevent motorists parking over them.

The big issue here is we have many disabled people in the area who can not navigate the grass verges and rely on the crossing points to be able to get across the road.

The picture shown is not the worst example but point out the issue that is happening on a daily basis.

HMO Licensing

Housing Services have just launched a consultation on a proposal for Additional HMO Licensing to cover Bath City.

Bath and North East Somerset Council wants to ensure the safety and good management of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) that are privately rented within the Bath City area and encourage a choice of housing in the district including affordable housing.  However the current HMO licensing scheme and a recent stock survey has shown that many HMO properties require an improvement of conditions and management to achieve this aim.

We have just started publicising the consultation which includes an online survey, meetings with stakeholder groups, face to face interviews with a range of individual stakeholders and two public meetings.

This Survey is important to be able to control the quality of HMO’s and to be able to restrict the spread of poorly managed ones.

The link to the consultation is here.

Any one with concerns or want information on how this matter is being progressed should contact Councillor Tim Ball on 01225400834 or e-mail him tim_ball@bathnes.gov.uk.

Post office consultation

A few weeks ago we told you of the possible closures of Post Offices in Twerton and although there is not any good news to report on the Wedgewood Road site we can report that a potential new home has been found for the Twerton High Street site.

A proposal has come forward that the Post office moves from it current home in the Co op to McColl’s a few doors away.

The Post office has launched a consultation on this proposal and it would be helpful if residents could respond via the link below.

HMO planning application 69 Newton Road

We have a planning application submitted for a seven bed House of Multiple occupation at 69 Newton Road.

This application seems to be out of character for the area and I simply can't see how they can get 7 beds in this house and be able to have any living space.

The application is here to view or for comments.

Lights on at Landseer Road

We have asked the council to fix the light at Landseer Road that is constantly on. If you are aware of any other lights that are constantly on or not working then please let us know.
